How the 50KB JPG compressor works
Instead of handing you a quality slider and wishing you luck, this tool starts from the number your form demands: 50 kilobytes. Your JPG is re-encoded at a series of trial quality levels in your browser, each output is measured in bytes, and a binary search settles on the highest quality whose file size is still at or under 50KB. You get the best-looking JPG the byte budget allows, not a guess.
Some photos are so detailed that even the lowest JPEG quality at full resolution overshoots 50KB. When that happens the tool reduces the dimensions in 25% steps and searches again, reporting the final pixel size alongside the quality so you know exactly what changed. PNG and WebP files are accepted too; they are re-encoded as JPG with any transparency flattened onto white.

Why do forms ask for a JPG under 50KB?
Application portals, exam registration sites, visa systems, job boards and HR tools cap photo uploads to keep storage small. A phone photo is usually 2 to 6MB, far over the limit. This tool re-encodes your JPG at the highest quality that still fits 50KB exactly.
Will a 50KB JPG look bad?
