How this domain age checker works
WHOIS is being replaced by RDAP, a structured, HTTPS-based protocol run by the same registries. This page sends your domain to the rdap.org bootstrap, which routes the request to the authoritative registry for that extension (Verisign for .com and .net, Public Interest Registry for .org, and so on). The registry replies with the domain's lifecycle events: registration, last update and expiration. Your browser sends the lookup directly to these external services rather than to a CalcWren lookup server.
Why check a domain's age?
Domain age itself is not a Google ranking factor, but it is a useful trust signal in other contexts: vetting a domain before you buy it, judging whether a site reaching out for a link exchange is established, or sanity-checking a store you have never heard of. A brand-new registration is not proof of anything bad, but combined with other signals it helps you decide how much trust to extend. Where does domain age data come from?
This tool queries RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern successor to WHOIS. Your browser talks directly to the registry responsible for the domain's extension, routed through the rdap.org bootstrap, so the dates come from the authoritative registry record.
Does domain age affect SEO?
Not directly. Google has said domain age is not a ranking factor. Older domains often rank well because they have accumulated content, links and trust over time, not because of the registration date itself. Domain age is still useful when vetting a site to buy or a link partner.
Why does my domain show an error or no data?
Some country-code extensions do not run public RDAP servers, and a few registries omit registration dates. Reserved or unregistered domains also return not-found responses. In those cases the tool says so instead of guessing.
Is a domain's registration date the same as the website's age?
No. The registration date is when the domain name was first registered. The site on it may be much newer, and domains can be dropped and re-registered, which resets the date. For content history, check the Wayback Machine.
